Russia to extend stay for CIS and Georgian truck drivers to 180 days starting June 30
Russia will allow truck drivers from the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and Georgia to stay in the country for up to 180 days per calendar year, according to a government decree signed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin on April 27.
The measure applies to professional drivers engaged in international road transport who enter Russia under a visa-free regime. To qualify, drivers must submit an application explicitly stating their purpose of entry and intended length of stay.
These new regulations are set to take effect on June 30, 2026.
Since 2025, foreign nationals entering Russia without a visa have been limited to a total stay of 90 days per calendar year. This current policy replaced a previous rule that permitted stays of up to 90 days within any 180-day period.
