Norway ready to allocate more funds to finance Aral Sea rehabilitation project
On November 5 this year, the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade hosted a meeting with the delegation of the Kingdom of Norway headed by the State Secretary of the Foreign Ministry Audun Halvorsen, the MIFT press service said.
During the meeting, the prospects for investment and trade-economic cooperation between the two countries, taking into account the existing untapped potential, were discussed.
In this context, the parties considered specific interaction schemes for further deepening partnerships in the production of building materials, pharmaceuticals, energy and others, as well as arranging supplies of Uzbek textiles, fruits and vegetables to Norway.

Audun Halvorsen welcomed the efforts of the Government of Uzbekistan to enter the world trading system by intensifying the process of accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO).
The prospects for participation of Norwegian business circles in the work of the Tashkent International Investment Forum in 2020 were considered.

The Norwegian side expressed its readiness to allocate additional funds within the framework of the project to finance the activities of the Multi-Partner Human Security Trust Fund for the Aral Sea region under the auspices of the UN.
Following the meeting, it was also agreed to send Norwegian experts to Uzbekistan in the spring of next year to develop specific proposals for the implementation of promising projects in various fields, in particular in the field of healthcare.
