A group of young people detained in St. Petersburg for attacking an Uzbek citizen

A group of three young people was detained in St. Petersburg as part of an investigation into the case on attacking and robbing a citizen of Uzbekistan, the website of the RF Main Investigative Department for St. Petersburg reported.

Thanks to the work of investigators and employees of the Main Directorate of the Interior Ministry of Russia in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Oblast, analysis of a large amount of information, in particular telephone conversations and video recordings, the suspects were detained. They were residents of the Leningrad Oblast (born in 2000, 2001 and 2003).

Reportedly, the suspects on the evening of November 11, 2019 at the “Post Kovalevo” railway station in the Krasnogvardeysky district, attacked a 38-year-old citizen of Uzbekistan. Criminals sprayed irritating substance on his face, and then brutally beat him. He was stabbed at least 5 times, as well as received multiple kicks in the head and body, which caused serious harm to his health. Currently, the man is in hospital.

The criminal group stole the victim’s mobile phone and his personal belongings worth about 8,000 rubles.

During the investigation, the sprayer, knife, and the victim’s mobile phone were seized from the suspects.

The issue of arresting suspects and bringing charges against them is being considered. In addition, the available information on the commitment of similar crimes by them is checked.

The criminal investigation is ongoing.
