Latvia expresses readiness to assist Uzbekistan in joining the WTO and support it within the EU
On November 14, 2019, the Ambassador of Uzbekistan in Riga Kadambay Sultanov met with the Foreign Minister of Latvia Edgars Rinkēvičs.
During the conversation, an exchange of views took place on further strengthening the political dialogue between the two countries. The prospects for enhancing trade-economic, investment, technological, scientific and educational cooperation were also considered.
Edgars Rinkēvičs praised the consistency and dynamic nature of reforms in Uzbekistan under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. He assured that the Latvian side is ready to share the accumulated practical experience in the field of justice, improvement of the state (civil) service system, agricultural development, and education.
Touching upon multilateral cooperation, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Latvia announced his readiness to assist our country in joining the World Trade Organization and support it within the European Union, including during the negotiation process on the Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement between Uzbekistan and the European Union.
The parties also discussed the schedule and agenda for upcoming bilateral contacts at various levels.
