Prosecutor General's Office launches an investigation on the audio recording case, in which journalists were threatened
The Prosecutor General’s Office of Uzbekistan commented on the audio recording, in which the khokim of Tashkent Jakhongir Artikhodjayev insulted and threatened journalists.
“The Prosecutor General’s Office is investigating the authenticity of the audio recording, released on the Internet and social networks on November 16, 2019, in which the khokim of Tashkent Jakhongir Artikhodjayev made abusive statements against journalists.
Results of the investigation will be reviewed in detail within the established legislation and additional statements will be made,” the Prosecutor General’s Office said.
Also, the press service of the Tashkent city administration said in its Telegram channel that an investigation into the case had already begun.
“An audio recording, which has been circulated on social networks, has become the subject of public debate.
Currently, a working group consisting of responsible agencies has been established to clarify and comprehensively investigate the issue.
Additional information will be provided on the results of the study,” the capital’s administration said.
