Kazakhstan’s Interior Ministry arrests a doctor for illegal transplantation of human organs. There are citizens of Uzbekistan among victims

In Shymkent, the chief doctor of the city clinical hospital No. 1 Abylai Donbay has been detained for illegal transplantation of human organs and participation in the transnational crime group engaged in the black market of transplantation, the press service of the Interior Ministry of Kazakhstan reports.

The doctor is charged with committing criminal offenses under Articles “participation in a transnational criminal group” and “illegal removal of human organs” of the Criminal Code.

The reason for the doctor’s detention was a pre-trial investigation, according to the results of which it was established that for two years, a sustainable criminal group engaged in transplantation of human organs operated on the territory of Kazakhstan.

It was organized by citizens of foreign countries, and donors were citizens of Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Ukraine, who, due to difficult financial conditions, were forced to sell their kidneys, and recipients were wealthy citizens of foreign countries, mainly Israel.

Reportedly, the head of the department for transplantology and hepatobiliary surgery, in collusion with this group, carried out illegal operations to remove and transplant kidneys for a large sum of money.
