Uzbekistan to introduce VAR in 2021
Uzbekistan Football Association (UFA) will introduce a video assistant referee (VAR) system in the Super League starting from the 2021 football season, follows from the presidential decree.
The implementation of VAR in the Super League was announced in May this year.
At the end of 2018, the former head of UFA Umid Akhmadjanov met with the managing director of Hawk-Eye Innovations Ltd Ben Crossing, who was asked to provide a detailed commercial proposal and estimate for implementation of the VAR system, as well as to provide assistance in conducting training for referees in Uzbekistan.
The presidential decree provides for the establishment of a Training Center for Football Specialists under the UFA with the aim of training, retraining and advanced training of highly qualified specialists in different areas through the wide involvement of domestic and foreign experts, using modern scientific achievements and innovative technologies.
Mirziyoyev also instructed to streamline the activities of football agents (intermediaries) and entrusted the UFA with responsibilities to accredit them.
