Bakhodir Kurbanov elected President of the Uzbekistan Football Association
The Chairman of the State Security Service, General-Colonel Bakhodir Kurbanov, has been elected President of the Uzbekistan Football Association (UFA).
His election followed a selection process in which the Election Committee reviewed nominees put forward by association members to ensure their eligibility under the UFA Election Code and Charter.
In accordance with Article 30, Clause 4 of the Charter, delegates formally endorsed Bakhodir Kurbanov’s candidacy, leading to his official appointment as UFA President.
Earlier, it was reported that, in line with the UFA Charter, the presidential election was scheduled for February 22, 2025, and that General-Colonel Bakhodir Kurbanov had been put forward as a candidate for the position.
At the end of January, former Chairman of the State Security Service Abdusalom Azizov stepped down from his role as UFA President. Since then, First Vice President Ravshan Irmatov had been serving as acting president.
