Official explains why MTRK has been allocated more than 420 billion soums from the state budget
At the AIMC Media Hall, a meeting of the debate club “New Uzbekistan – new elections” took place.
The event titled “Civil society development in the context of large-scale changes in Uzbekistan” noted that the virtual reception offices of the President are the means of communication between the government and the people. In addition, it focused on the legal bases and mechanisms of public control, improving the legislation in the field of media, identifying problems in the socio-economic sphere and the role of the media in exercising public control, as well as developing the blogosphere as a guarantee of freedom of speech.
At the event, executive officials were asked to comment on allocation of more than 420 billion soums to the National Television and Radio Company (MTRK) of Uzbekistan from the state budget in 2020.
“Fund allocation to the MTRK will not be agreed upon with us. This will be decided between the Ministry of Finance and MTRK itself. Of course, 400 billion soums is a lot of money. I was curious to learn why the MTRK was allotted so much money. We are talking about public control, openness. It is important to monitor to what the funds are spent,” the AIMC director Komil Allamjonov said.
In turn, chairman of the Committee on ICT of the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis Ilhom Abdullayev commented on this.
“As you know, since last year, the transition to digital technology has been made in TV broadcasting. Most of the money allocated on television goes to the radio transmissions center. This fund is intended not for the TV channels, but for the MTRK to broadcast in digital format,” Ilhom Abdullayev said.
