Uzbekistan to introduce a criminal liability for medical personnel for forgery of prescriptions
Uzbekistan imposes administrative and criminal liability on medical personnel and other persons for forgery of prescriptions. This is stated in the program of measures on realization of the development Concept of pharmaceutical industry in the Republic of Uzbekistan in 2020-2024.
The draft law of the Republic of Uzbekistan envisages:
- imposing administrative and criminal liability on medical personnel and other persons for infringement of the requirements established by the legislation on prescription of medicines, including psychotropic substances, medicines and others included in the list of highly effective precursors;
- introduction of amendments and additions to the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On maintaining the citizens’ health” to prohibit medical workers to receive financial rewards or any other incentives in the form of material or intangible benefits from pharmaceutical organizations and pharmacies to prescribe certain medicines.
The deadline for execution is April 1, 2020. Responsible executors are the Ministry of Health (Shodmonov), the Pharmaceutical Industry Development Agency (Kariyev), the Antimonopoly Committee (Sharipov) and the Ministry of Justice (Davletov).
