Universities to cut length of pedagogy courses for undergraduate students
Uzbekistan plans to further develop the sphere of pedagogical education in the country.
The duration of study in 6 directions of pedagogy courses for undergraduate students will be cut from the current 4 to 3 years. This is stated in the draft State Program on implementing the Actions Strategy in the “Year of Development of Science and Digital Economy”.
It is noted that by April 1, 2020, a draft presidential decree will be developed.
The project will provide for:
- establishing a 3-year study period in 6 directions of pedagogy courses from the 2020/2021 academic year;
- establishment of Pedagogical Institutions on the basis of pedagogical faculties and individual branches of higher education institutions in the regions.
Responsible bodies – Ministry of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education, ministries and agencies under which higher education institutions operate, Ministry of Economy and Industry, Ministry of Finance.
It is also planned to transform and further develop higher education institutions in cooperation with reputable foreign higher education institutions.
