On February 15, 2020, the UNESCO Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions entered into force for the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The Convention was signed on October 20, 2005 in Paris and became effective on March 18, 2007. Uzbekistan ratified the Convention on October 14, 2019.
The main objective of the Convention is to protect and promote various forms of cultural expressions, to create conditions for free communication and to develop various cultures by strengthening international cooperation in this field.
Currently, Uzbekistan is taking appropriate measures for the phased implementation of the main points of the Convention. A vivid example of this is the holding of the “Sharq Taronalari” International Music Festival, the International Poppy Art Forum, and the International Bakhshi Art Festival.
