Research: To buy a Malibu car, citizens should save up for 23 years

According to the latest statistics, in January-December 2019, the average monthly salary in Uzbekistan amounted to 2.3 million soums.

Since February 1 of this year, the salaries of employees of budgetary institutions and organizations, pensions, scholarships, allowances, as well as material assistance to low-income families have increased by 1.07 times. It means that the average salary now amounts to approximately 2.4 million soums.

In July 2019, former Minister of Economy and Industry, Botir Khojayev, reported that the consumer basket was approximately 650 thousand soums, and subsistence level equals to 800 thousand soums.

Based on these facts, Kun.uz correspondents decided to calculate the time period needed to save up enough money for buying a car, earning an average salary and having living expenses at subsistence level.

In general, based on the mentioned data, one person can theoretically save about 1 million soums per month (the remaining 1.4 million soums for other minimum expenses).

Considering such conditions, to save up money for the purchase of Damas (DLX D2), one needs to spend 6 years and 6 months.

For a Spark (3rd position, АТ, М300М2 / GC / A-125) this figure equals to 7 years and 8 months.

To buy a Nexia III car (2nd position, AV-Optium Plus), one needs to save up money for 7 years and 5 months.

Cobalt car (2 items, GS / 16MTB) costs 95 million soums, so one needs to spend 7 years and 11 months to collect the required amount.

Moreover, buying a Lacetti car (1st position, HBO L3-15G) requires 10 years and 3 months of saving up money.

To buy a Tracker (MT), one should save up for more than 15 years, for Malibu (1.5 AT) – 23 years. For Equinox and Trailblazer, this period equals to 29 years and 33 years, respectively.
