Pentagon chief Mark Esper postpones his visit to Uzbekistan
Pentagon chief Mark Esper postponed his visit to Uzbekistan, India and Pakistan because of the coronavirus, press secretary of the Department of Defense Alyssa Farah said.
“Out of an abundance of caution, Secretary of Defense Mark Esper has decided to postpone his travel to India, Uzbekistan, and Pakistan until a later date to remain in the U.S. to help manage the Department of Defense response to Coronavirus,” she said in Twitter.
It should be recalled that recently, in order to prevent the entry of the coronavirus epidemic into the country, Uzbekistan announced the temporary suspension of holding international events and sports competitions that were planned to be held on the territory of the republic.
The Minister of Health Alisher Shodmonov, at a press conference in Tashkent on March 10, said that no cases of coronavirus infection have been detected in the country so far. “We are not hiding the disease. It is impossible to hide it,” Shodmonov said.
