AIIB to provide support for stabilizing the economy of Uzbekistan
The Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade Sardor Umurzakov and President of the Asian Bank for Infrastructure Investment (AIIB) Jin Liqun held a videoconference on April 6.
The parties discussed the format of cooperation to overcome the social and economic challenges that occurred due to the global spread of the coronavirus infection, the press service of the MIFT reported.
According to the ministerial press service, the head of the AIIB assured the representative of Uzbekistan that the bank intends to provide tangible support to the republic in stabilizing its economy and further enhance the country’s investment attractiveness.
“During the videoconference, the sides reached an agreement on the allocation of additional funds to support the healthcare system and entrepreneurship in Uzbekistan in order to minimize the negative impact of the coronavirus pandemic on the economy,” the report said.
The President of the AIIB said that the bank is ready to expeditiously consider the application of Uzbekistan and to provide comprehensive support.
