Coronavirus: British Prime Minister Boris Johnson hospitalized
Boris Johnson, U.K. Prime Minister, has been admitted to hospital for tests after showing persistent symptoms of coronavirus 10 days after testing positive for the virus, the Prime Minister’s Office said in a statement.
It is noted that the measure taken is a “precautionary step”.
“On the advice of his doctor, the Prime Minister has tonight been admitted to hospital for tests. This is a precautionary step, as the Prime Minister continues to have persistent symptoms of coronavirus ten days after testing positive for the virus,” his office said on Sunday evening.
Johnson expressed gratitude to NHS staff “for all of their incredible hard work and urged the public to continue to follow the Government’s advice to stay at home, protect the NHS and save lives.”
The British Prime Minister announced on March 27 that he tested positive for coronavirus and went into isolation at a flat in Downing Street.
