Foreign Ministry provides information about citizens of Uzbekistan abroad who have been infected with coronavirus
As of April 7, a total of 23 Uzbeks in 9 countries have been diagnosed with coronavirus, the press secretary of the Foreign Ministry Avazbek Khodjimetov said.
“There are coronavirus cases among our citizens abroad. According to our data, a total of 23 Uzbek citizens, residing in Austria (1), Armenia (1), the USA (10), the UAE (1), the Republic of Korea (1), Pakistan (5), Russia (1), Thailand (1) and Kazakhstan (2), were diagnosed with the disease. 3 of them died.
Our diplomatic missions are in constant contact with them, and the necessary consular-legal assistance is being provided,” Kun.uz correspondent quotes the ministerial official as saying.
Khodjimetov also acknowledged the support provided by Uzbeks abroad to fight the coronavirus in the country.
“During such a critical period, our compatriots abroad have allocated significant funds to the Public Fund “Charity and Health”. We express our deep gratitude for their good deeds.
Employees of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and all diplomatic missions of our country abroad have donated a part of their salaries to the Fund in order to contribute to this noble initiative,” he said at a briefing held at the AIMC.
