Uzbek enterprises increase medical mask production to 10.8 million units
As of May 18, Uzbekistan has increased the production of protective masks to 10.8 million units per day, the “Uztextileprom” Association reported.
The association notes that with the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic in the world, most countries have experienced a shortage of protective masks and suits for the population. In Uzbekistan, the issue of providing masks for the population has also become a priority.
Thus, 275 enterprises of the industry produce more than 6 million masks and 45 thousand protective suits per day. In addition, 1.7 million protective masks and 1.2 million protective suits were received as humanitarian aid, and 13.4 million masks were exported.
The leaders in the production of masks in the country are the city of Tashkent, Namangan, Andijan and Tashkent regions. They account for over 75% of production.
