Air service is planned to be organized between Fergana and Sokh district, the press service of the district administration informs.

It is also noted that the old airfield will be renovated for this purpose.

On May 1, the Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov arrived in the Sokh district following an incident at the border. There he met with the local residents and informed that the government would soon solve all problems.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev also expressed his views on the latest developments of the situation in the Sokh district. He stressed that “problems in the area did not appear yesterday or today, but local residents have been unemployed and lived in bad conditions for a long time.”

“We must pay special attention to poverty reduction in border areas, develop the economy and create all conditions for the inhabitants. Ramatov was given an assignment. Every month he has to live in two border areas for one week. He has the authority. He knows these areas well. Why didn’t he visit the Sokh district?” said Mirziyoyev.

The Head of State said that the country would now establish a separate list of border areas.

“The Deputy Prime Ministers will visit these areas and look into their problems. We must establish a system of prevention. What’s the situation with the water supply, the security, the situation with the environment? Ramatov is in charge. You, Aripov, will follow him. Ramatov will diagnose the problems, and you will find solutions to them. The diagnosis is to know everything. You have seen the mood of people. These are simple problems that can be solved,” the President noted.

Mirziyoyev stressed that no high-ranking officials had visited this region in years.

“You just said that people there are bad. Why are they bad? Because they demand something from you? But it is fair to demand. This incident was a good lesson,” he said.
