Coronavirus: Death toll reaches 17 in Uzbekistan
An elderly man who was hospitalized due to a car accident had tested positive for coronavirus infection.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Health, on May 27, a 70-year-old man was taken to the Republican Scientific Center for Emergency Medical Care with an initial diagnosis of a closed head injury after a traffic accident.
He was checked for coronavirus infection due to the appearance of similar symptoms. The results were positive. After that he was hospitalized in a multidisciplinary clinic of the Tashkent Medical Academy to provide specialized medical care.
It is noted that the patient was previously treated for a brain tumor, coronary heart disease, hypertension, hepatitis, pneumonia and chronic heart, kidney and liver failure.
Due to the deterioration of the patient’s condition, the doctors decided to connect him to a ventilator.
“Despite the medical care provided, the patient died of a brain tumor, acute respiratory failure and cardiovascular failure,” the report said.
Thus, the total number of death cases in the country has reached 17.
