63,000 citizens have returned home during pandemic – MFA
During the coronavirus pandemic, over 63,000 citizens of Uzbekistan returned home, the MFA press service reported.
“Thanks to uninterrupted interdepartmental work, 108 charter flights for return of 16,031 fellow citizens (from Russia – 10,758, Turkey – 1,920, UAE – 1,387) were organized in the period from March 16 to June 7 of this year,” the statement reads.
In addition, 40,633 citizens returned through the Uzbek-Kazakh border, 4,882 – through the Uzbek-Kyrgyz border and 592 crossed the Uzbek-Tajik border. On May 18 and 19, 1,206 citizens of Uzbekistan who gathered at the Russian-Kazakh border (“Mashtakovo” checkpoint) were taken through the territory of Kazakhstan to their homeland.
Jointly with the competent authorities of foreign countries, Uzbekistan works on extending the duration of visas, providing legal and consular services, and assisting citizens in need, providing them with temporary accommodation, food, medicines and personal hygiene tools.
