Uzbekistan plans to get rail freight discounts from China
The first block train consisting of 25 containers with electrical products departed from the railway station “Lanzhou” in the province of Gansu (China) to Turkmenistan on the multimodal transport corridor “China - Kyrgyzstan – Uzbekistan”.
Cargo from China’s seaports and provinces will be transported by rail to a major transport center in Kashgar. Here, consolidation of freight flows takes place, as well as their transfer from rail to road for further transportation.
“In order to increase the efficiency of the transport corridor, we are carrying out joint work with Chinese partners on the provision of discounts for the transportation of goods across the territory of China, synchronizing rail container transportation with road transport and increasing the capacity of the logistics center in Kashgar,” the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade informs.
The length of this transport corridor is 295 km shorter than the alternative routes through the border posts of Khorgos and Dostyk (Kazakhstan), which makes it possible to shorten the delivery time of goods and to make the new route attractive and competitive for participants of international trade.
