“A horrific crime committed by employees of the Andijan city DIA on May 30 was a major stain in the system. If we don’t start bigger changes in the system, this stain will remind us of our shortcomings.

“After the incident, the leadership of the Andijan region’s police department, representatives of the khokimiyat and the prosecutor’s office investigated the situation, and the perpetrators were arrested,” he noted.

Shokhrukh Giyasov said that employees of the police department visited the family of the deceased and apologized to them.

In this case, the term for consideration of the application was violated, the citizen was taken out in the evening, and during the interrogation, the order was violated by police officers as they did not inform his supervisor.

“Prosecutor’s office will assess the situation. If the MIA itself receives allegations of torture, a working group will be set up immediately. A working group was established to study the incident in Andijan. As a result of the investigation, three police officers have been arrested, five have been fired, one has been relieved of his post, and 19 others have been punished,” Shokhrukh Giyasov said.
