Youth Union to be transformed into Agency for Youth Affairs 

Youth Union of Uzbekistan will be transformed into Agency for Youth Affairs, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a relevant decree on June 30.

The head of state announced plans to create a new structure back in December 2019.

The Agency for Youth Affairs is a government institution for the development and implementation of state youth policy, creating the necessary conditions for developing the potential of youth in various areas. Agency departments are being created in Karakalpakstan, regions and the city of Tashkent.
 
The tasks of the new Agency include norm-setting, upbringing and enlightening work, protecting the rights of youth, assisting them in obtaining foreign education, employment, doing business, etc. 

The Agency, within its competence, makes decisions binding on all state bodies, other organizations and officials involved in the implementation of state youth policy.

A program of additional measures has been adopted to further develop the state youth policy and a coordinating council has been formed for its implementation. The program provides financial support for youth projects, the organization of various kinds of educational, creative and business events. In addition, the agency organizes music, sports and IT clubs in schools, and provides libraries with necessary literature.
 
To reduce the unemployment rate among young people and their involvement in social life, teams of “enthusiastic youth” will be created to engage in paid public and seasonal work, youth construction teams from university students involved in paid construction work during the summer holidays.
