Foreign currency purchases by individuals on the rise in Uzbekistan
The volume of purchases by the population of foreign currencies reached the highest level since the beginning of the year. In June, the purchase of foreign currency by individuals amounted to $323 million, the Central Bank reports.
In total, since the beginning of the year, the volume of sales of foreign currency by individuals has reached $2.2 billion, which is $797 million (57%) more compared to the same period last year.
The volume of foreign currency purchases by individuals amounted to $1.7 billion, which is 3 times more than in the corresponding period of 2019 ($557 million).
Earlier, it was reported that at the end of June, $621 million was transferred to Uzbekistan – the highest rate for the whole year. In January, before the pandemic, it was $400 million, in February – $385 million.
