SSS arrests false official of the Presidential Administration

The press service of the SSS informed that in March of this year, a stranger contacted the head of one of the private clinics in Tashkent and introduced himself as an official of the Presidential Administration, warning that he would send a woman with a child to a medical institution for immediate treatment.

The fraudster spoke so convincingly that the head of the clinic had no doubt in his words and examined the child. The result of the examination showed that the baby’s nasal cavity had a cyst, which had to be removed surgically. Because his clinic was not specialized in such operations, he paid out of his pocket 7.5 million soums for the surgery in another clinic and fulfilled the task given by the false official,” the report says.

After some time, the fraudster called the clinic again and said he wanted to thank him. He said that there were 11 apartments in multi-storey houses in Tashkent that had been declared abandoned and could be purchased. Each of them reportedly cost $10,000. He offered his assistance in the registration of the property for $110,000.

The head of the clinic believed him and agreed to purchase the affordable apartments and paid $10,000 as an advance payment to the person sent by the fraudster.

By July of this year, the fraudster announced the decision of the Tashkent city khokim to grant the right of ownership of the mentioned apartments. He added that it was now necessary to transfer $50,000, and the rest after the transaction was completed.

During an operational event conducted by the SSS together with representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the wife of the fraudster and their accomplice were caught red-handed while receiving $50,000 from the head of the clinic.

Further, the fraudster himself was arrested at the place of his temporary residence. It was identified that he lives in the Saikhunabad district of the Syrdarya region and had previously been involved in a number of fraudulent acts: he used to assist people in finding work in South Korea and enrolled students in domestic higher education institutions illegally.

“The detainee has already been charged under Article 168 of the Criminal Code and appeared before the court four times. At present, the State Security Service has initiated new criminal proceedings and, as part of the investigative actions, is taking measures to identify other citizens who suffered from the illegal actions of the fraudster,” the press service concluded.
