Uzbekistan and Russia may create a joint low-cost airline
The second meeting of the subcommittee on cooperation in the field of transport of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation between the Russian Federation and Uzbekistan took place in a videoconference format. The Russian side was headed by the First Deputy Minister of Transport – Head of the Federal Agency for Air Transport Alexander Neradko, the Uzbek side – by the Minister of Transport Elyor Ganiyev.
The parties considered topical issues of bilateral cooperation, paying special attention to interaction in the field of air transport. In particular, the sides discussed the preparation for the signing of the Agreement between the Federal Air Transport Agency and the Civil Aviation Agency on cooperation in the field of airworthiness. In addition, they talked about the possibility of increasing the number of flights between the two countries and creating an Uzbek-Russian low-cost air carrier for the transportation of passengers and goods.
The sides exchanged information on preparations for signing a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministries of Transport of Russia and Uzbekistan on the development of cooperation in transport education.
Also, the parties agreed to continue work on the phased implementation of the Memorandum of Cooperation in the field of digital transport systems, signed last year by the Transport Ministry of Uzbekistan and RT-Invest Transport Systems LLC.
