President Mirziyoyev receives Russian delegation, discusses expanding educational and humanitarian ties
The President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting with Dmitry Chernyshenko, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, and his delegation to discuss furthering cooperation between Uzbekistan and Russia in multiple sectors, with a strong emphasis on education and humanitarian exchange.
Chernyshenko conveyed greetings from Russian President Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin before discussions began. Joining him at the meeting were Russian Minister of Economic Development Alexey Chekunov and Minister of Education Sergey Kravtsov.
The talks centered on implementing high-level agreements aimed at enhancing the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Russia. Both sides explored opportunities to open new branches of Russia’s leading universities in Uzbekistan, which would help develop a network of highly skilled educators in the region. This move aligns with Uzbekistan's goals to strengthen educational standards and broaden academic options for its citizens.
Highlighting the importance of expanding educational and cultural cooperation, Mirziyoyev and Chernyshenko discussed a comprehensive roadmap for collaboration between Uzbekistan and Russia’s Far Eastern regions. This "roadmap" will facilitate direct partnerships between local administrations in both countries, fostering regional growth and knowledge exchange.
Additionally, both sides expressed a mutual interest in increasing the flow of tourists between Uzbekistan and Russia. Plans to organize joint cultural and sports events were also addressed, which would promote deeper people-to-people ties and strengthen the existing friendship between the two nations.
