In the Khorezm region, one-time financial assistance has been distributed to families in need of social protection in the complex conditions associated with the coronavirus pandemic.

On July 30, the President of Uzbekistan signed a decree “On additional measures for financial support of the population in need of social protection and assistance during the coronavirus pandemic”. It provided for one-time financial assistance from the state budget to those included in the list (“iron book”) of families, who are in need of financial assistance and support.

In order to ensure the implementation of the presidential decree, a list of low-income families in all districts and cities of the Khorezm region has been compiled.

A working group, which included the mahalla chairman and sector leaders, went door-to-door and distributed cash on the basis of a passport to each recipient in accordance with the register.

In particular, in the Urgench district, 5,085 people from 1,113 families living in 948 houses, who are in need of social protection, received 220,000 soums each. A total of 1.118 billion soums of financial aid was distributed.

In the Kushkupir district, 7,528 people from 1,670 families received 220,000 soums each. A total of 1.656 billion soums of financial aid was distributed.

In the Khazorasp district, 7,088 people from 1,715 families received 220,000 soums each. A total of 1.559 billion soums of financial aid was distributed.

In the Yangiarik district, 1,798 people from 435 families received 220,000 soums each. A total of 395.5 million soums of financial aid was distributed.

In the Khanka district, people living in 717 families, who are in need of social protection, received 220,000 soums each. A total of 668 million soums of financial assistance was distributed.

In the Gurlan district, 2,893 people from 696 families received 220,000 soums each, a total of 636.4 million soums of financial aid was distributed.

In the Shovot district, 6,933 people received financial assistance in the amount of 220,000 soums each, a total of 1.525 billion soums were distributed.

In the Yangibazar district, 5261 people from 1136 families were presented 220,000 soums each (a total of 1.157 billion soums).

In the Tuprakkala district, 1,377 people from 343 families were provided with financial assistance in the amount of 220,000 soums each (a total of 302.9 million soums).

For information, citizens who are in need of social protection, but for some reason are not included in the list of low-income families should contact the chairman of the mahalla where they live.

If the chairman of the mahalla does not resolve the citizen’s appeal, then he is asked to apply to the head of the sector.

In addition, a special staff headed by the first deputy khokim for economic affairs has been set up under the khokimiyats. If the mahalla chairman and sector leaders do not resolve the appeal, it is recommended that they contact the staff under the khokimiyats.

It should be noted that the assistance provided by the presidential decree is one-time, and in the coming months, it is not planned to provide similar financial assistance to low-income families.
