Head-on collision of Matiz and Nexia claims the lives of 4 people in Namangan

According to the Road Traffic Safety Department, the driver of the Matiz car, 22, fell asleep at the wheel and drove into an oncoming lane, where he collided with the Nexia car of a 33-year-old citizen.

As a result, the driver of Matiz and his passenger, 23, as well as the passengers of Nexia, 45 and 39, died at the scene of the accident.

Meanwhile, the driver of Nexia and his two other passengers, 23 and 22, were hospitalized with injuries.

The Investigation Department initiated criminal proceedings under Article 266-3a of the Criminal Code and preliminary investigations are ongoing.

For the record, it was reported that the driver of the Matiz was prosecuted nine times for violation of traffic rules in a year alone.
