Uzbekistan suspended gold exports in September

Uzbekistan stopped exporting gold in September 2020, the State Statistics Committee reports.
The country's gold exports amounted to $5.8 billion in January-August 2020. In September, the figure experienced no change. The share of gold in total exports declined from 50 percent to 46.5 percent.
According to the Committee’s data, as of January-September 2020, Uzbekistan’s foreign trade turnover reached $27.49 billion, which has decreased by $3.7 billion compared to the same period last year.
Of the total foreign trade turnover, exports amounted to $12.4 billion (a decline of 6 percent compared to January-September 2019), while imports amounted to $15 billion (a decline of 16.5 percent). As a result, the negative balance of foreign trade amounted to $2.5 billion.
