Power to make decisions on starting traditional form of education may remain with university itself

For the 2020-2021 academic year, the decision-making power to resume higher education online or in the traditional form may remain with the higher education institutions themselves, Kun.uz correspondent reports, citing a source in the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education.

“The current situation requires extreme caution from officials. First of all, it is necessary to consider in different interpretations what the consequences of the decision will be. If a decision is made without thinking now, and it leads to an increase in disease among people, then no one can stop it.

In general, the field of higher education cannot be compared with the system of pre-school education or general secondary education. We might have more dangerous consequences.

The decision-making power to resume education at universities may be granted to the higher education institutions themselves. In this case, the university decides in which field of study to continue classes online and in which to resume education in the traditional form. For example, students can take history lessons online, but they need to present at the university for medical courses.

Also, the results of a survey show that people want to return to the traditional form of education. The final decision will be made this week,” a spokesperson for the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education said.

Bakhriddin Shayvaliyev, an employee of the ministerial information service, commented on the news spread on social networks about the start of traditional classes in all higher education institutions from November 2.

“The survey on how to start the courses has been completed and the final decision will be announced soon.

The rumors circulating about the start of traditional classes in higher education institutions from November 2 have no official basis.

Whatever decision is made, students will be given some time for preparation,” he said.
