Sardor Umurzakov meets with UAE Deputy PM, discusses joint investment projects
On November 9, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov met with Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Presidential Affairs of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
During the meeting, the current state of implementing joint projects, as well as prospects for further expanding the partnership between the two countries in trade-economic and investment spheres, were discussed.
The progress achieved in the implementation of large-scale projects in the fields of energy, healthcare and infrastructure development was positively assessed. The parties noted the great opportunities for further expansion of cooperation in agriculture, telecommunications, healthcare, tourism, production of building materials and financial services.
The activity of the Uzbek-Emirati investment company Abu-Dhabi Uzbek Investment, as well as the possibilities for its expansion, in particular, by increasing the volume of financing of the program to support small and medium-sized businesses in Uzbekistan through Uzbek commercial banks, were considered.
The parties noted the significant potential for attracting Emirati investors to participate in the privatization of state enterprises in Uzbekistan.
In addition, the Emirati side proposed to prioritize joint investment projects in the fields of energy, banking, agriculture, and the mining industry.
Following the meeting, an agreement was reached on the creation of separate joint working groups for a thorough study of specific projects in new areas.
