Ministry of Labor denies rumors on granting permission to migrants from Bangladesh to work in Uzbekistan
The Ministry of Employment and Labor Relations commented on the arrival of 888 Bangladeshi citizens in Uzbekistan for work.
As the ministerial press service reported, in accordance with the law, Uzbekneftegaz and Uzbekistan GTL companies can attract foreign workers.
For information, in 2019, the Cabinet of Ministers adopted a resolution which states that foreign nationals must first obtain a document confirming their right to work on the territory of Uzbekistan. It is issued by the Agency for External Labor Migration.
“Until today, neither Uzbekneftegaz JSC, nor Uzbekistan GTL, nor the general contractor of the project (ENTER Engineering) has applied to receive the appropriate confirmation,” the Ministry of Labor said.
The ministry noted that they have sent a request to companies on the need to register foreign nationals who came to work with the department.
Earlier The Daily Star reported that 888 people from Bangladesh would come to Uzbekistan to work.
Later, a deputy of Oliy Majlis criticized the company that hired workers from Bangladesh.
