Uzbekistan, UAE discuss prospects for multilateral cooperation 

On November 10, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade Sardor Umurzakov met with the UAE Minister of Cabinet Affairs and the Future Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the progress of multifaceted cooperation in improving the efficiency of public administration and the implementation of relevant “road maps” in 25 areas. So far, despite the restrictions imposed due to the pandemic, 147 joint events have been held. 

The sides also considered opportunities for expanding investment cooperation by involving UAE investment corporations in the implementation of projects in priority areas of the Uzbek economy.

Views were exchanged on deepening trade cooperation by increasing the supply of Uzbek fruits and vegetables to the UAE, implementing joint projects to create large export-oriented industrial enterprises, developing tourism and introducing Islamic financing mechanisms in Uzbekistan. The next steps were also agreed upon.

Special attention was paid to the interaction in the field of healthcare and protection of public health – the UAE expressed readiness to assist in attracting leading Emirati companies to improve the management of medical facilities in Uzbekistan.

Following the meeting, it was agreed to organize a visit of the UAE delegation led by Minister of Government Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi to Uzbekistan by the end of this year.
