Uzbekistan establishing a fund to help bring in bodies of migrants died abroad

In order to expand the system of financial assistance to migrant workers left in difficult financial situations abroad, a special fund is being established under the regional administrations.

According to the Agency for External Labor Migration, the Fund will be formed from additional sources of the local budget and other funds not prohibited by law.

The Fund provides services to migrant workers in difficult situations abroad in the following areas:

• offering vacancies available in foreign companies;
• payment of air or rail tickets for repatriation;
• providing money of up to $1,000 and a ticket for bringing the body of the deceased to Uzbekistan.

It is noted that today such Funds have been established under the khokimiyats of Karakalpakstan, Surkhandarya, Namangan, Khorezm and Syrdarya regions.
