Suma Chakrabarti: Tourism can become one of the locomotives of Uzbekistan’s national economy
Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the State Committee for Tourism Development Aziz Abdukhakimov held a videoconference with the Adviser to the President of Uzbekistan on economic development, effective governance and international cooperation Suma Chakrabarti.

During the talks, Suma Chakrabarti was informed about the recent reforms in the tourism sector of Uzbekistan, investment opportunities in the country’s tourism industry, new directions of tourism, as well as the conditions created for the safe stay of foreign tourists on the basis of the implemented epidemiological security system “Uzbekistan. Safe travel GUARANTEED”, the State Tourism Committee reported.
Suma Chakrabarti, in turn, noted that the tourism industry can become one of the main locomotives of the national economy of Uzbekistan.

The parties exchanged views on updating the strategy for the development of tourism and branding of Uzbekistan abroad in the post-pandemic period, as well as effective management of cultural heritage sites, further development of the air transportation system, active involvement of the EBRD and other IFIs in the implementation of infrastructure projects and the creation of new tourist zones.
