Gov’t to cover half of rental fee for students living in rented accommodation
The President noted that more than 130,000 students live in rented accommodation in Uzbekistan. According to him, from May 1, half of the rental fee will be covered by the government.
In a videoconference dedicated to solving the problems of young people, Shavkat Mirziyoyev touched upon the problems that plague students.
“Today, more than 130,000 students live in rented accommodation. A separate program is being developed to address this issue, in accordance with which, from May 1, half of the rental fee will be covered by the government.
At the initial stage, the system will cover 60,000 young people. The expenses will be reimbursed to needy students by khokimiyats and universities.
Ishmetov (Minister of Finance – ed.) will allocate 100 billion soums for these purposes.
Tashkulov (Minister of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education), Ishmetov, rectors and heads of the regional finance department will meet with the renting students within two weeks and start payments from May 1,” the President said.
