Pregnant woman with an 8-month-old child sent to jail by law enforcement officers
A pregnant woman with an 8-month-old child who worked as a mail operator has been sentenced to incarceration for five years.
Earlier, social media users circulated a video message titled “A pregnant woman deprived of an 8-month-old child and detained.”
The message was about Anora Rajabova, who worked as an operator of an inter-district postal hub in Samarkand, and a number of other employees that were found guilty of embezzling funds in the amount of 743 million soums during six months of 2018. The post asked to reconsider all charges against Rajabova.
According to the Senate, the court did not take into account that Rajabova had an 8-month-old child and was pregnant.
She was sentenced to 5 years and 2 months in prison.
At the citizen’s request, the Senate sent an appeal to the Prosecutor General’s Office and the Supreme Court and will report on its results soon.
