Gov’t allocates 300 billion soums for holding presidential elections
Reportedly, each candidate nominated by each political party will be allocated 3 billion 97 million soums.
In order to finance the costs associated with the preparation and conduct of elections of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan in October 2021, the limited amount of funds allocated to the Central Election Commission (CEC) is set at 300 billion soums. This was announced at a regular CEC meeting on June 16.
Due to the requirements of the Electoral Code and international election standards, all aspects that require funding in the preparation and conduct of the presidential election were taken into account.
In particular, it is planned to allocate 56 million 991 thousand soums to each of the 14 district election commissions, as well as 11 million 813 thousand soums to each of about 10,800 precinct election commissions.
More than 80% of these funds allocated for district and precinct election commissions will be spent on salaries, compensation and single social payments of members of these commissions.
It is also planned to allocate 18.4 billion soums for training and coaching members of election commissions. 92% of this amount will be spent as salaries of trainers and members of the monitoring group.
It is noted that 15 billion 486 million soums will be allocated for the financing of political parties participating in the elections and the campaign expenses of candidates nominated by the political party. At the same time, each candidate nominated by each political party will be allocated 3 billion 97 million soums.
