Saida Mirziyoyeva calls on preserving and restoring mosaic panels on buildings
The eldest daughter of the President of Uzbekistan Saida Mirziyoyeva called on owners of buildings in Tashkent, which have mosaic panels, to preserve and restore these works of art.
She recalled that during the restoration of the building of the Premier Hall cinema in Tashkent, a panel by the artist Alfred Mazitov “Girl with pigtails” was discovered.
“One of the most striking distinctive features of our city are mosaic panels, created at different times by talented and famous artists. The monumental art of Tashkent allows it to declare itself as the capital of modernism. This is a personal urban code that makes Tashkent unique and amazing,” Mirziyoyeva said.

According to her, the Foundation for Development of Culture and Art and the Grace Architectural Bureau are planning to develop a “roadmap” for the preservation of monumental art and adaptation of modernism architecture to the realities of a modern metropolis.
“We all call on the owners of unique buildings with mosaics to preserve and restore these works of art. The preservation of the historical heritage is our responsibility to future generations. They should not accuse us of immediacy and indifference. Let’s try to preserve these masterpieces for them,” she concluded.
