Botir Kurbonov: Mucormycosis is not threat for Uzbeks
The deputy head of the sanitary and epidemiological wellbeing and public health service, Botir Kurbonov, noted that it is wrong to associate the Indian strain identified in Uzbekistan with Mucormycosis, which is called the black mold disease by people.
Botir Kurbonov noted that the Indian strain differs from other types of coronavirus in rapid infection, but it is wrong to associate it with the black mold disease.
“The black mold disease can occur both in the British and in the Wuhan strains. Black mold does not pose any danger to Uzbeks, since this disease does not come from the outside. This fungal disease occurs due to unclean treatment,” he said.
A member of the staff said that now the increase in infection cases does not indicate a new wave, because the number of cases are different.
“The increase or decrease in morbidity depends on us. If we refuse to attend unnecessary events, avoid meetings, if possible, prevent crowds, this will serve to prevent the disease,” he said.
On June 24, Uzbekistan reported an infection case with a new strain of coronavirus - the strain “Delta” that was recorded in India last fall. This strain spreads faster than the previous ones, and its mortality risk is higher.
