The Boeing-777 aircraft of Swiss Airlines, which arrived in Tashkent to transport evacuees from Afghanistan, delivered 1.1 million protective masks to medical institutions in Uzbekistan, RIA Novosti reported with reference to the Ministry of Health.
According to a statement from the Swiss Foreign Ministry, the charter flight departed from Zurich to Tashkent on Monday to evacuate citizens of the Confederation and other countries from Afghanistan.
The flight was first scheduled for August 21, but it was later postponed due to the complicated security situation at the Kabul airport.
To organize special flights for the transit of foreigners and refugees from Afghanistan, Tashkent airport closed the terminal of local airlines on August 19.
