Uzbekistan aims to liberalize the energy market, attract private investment
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev said that the energy market of Uzbekistan will be liberalized and private investment will be attracted to the sector.
“By 2026, electricity generation will increase by an additional 30 billion kilowatt-hours per year to a total of 100 billion kilowatt-hours.
Next year, work will begin on the introduction of free market principles for natural gas.
Along with the liberalization of electricity and natural gas markets, social consumption norms will be introduced to protect low-income families,” Shavkat Mirziyoyev said at the UzLiDeP congress on September 9.
