Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan agree to establish joint car production

The parties are considering the prospects for the resumption of flights and the opening of a joint production of cars.

As Dunyo reports, the issues of strengthening transport connectivity and the phased resumption of flights between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan were considered during the next meeting of the intergovernmental commission in Tashkent.

“The parties agreed that it is necessary to take joint measures to further develop transport corridors, which provides for the restoration of air traffic, the provision of mutual tariff preferences for 2022,” the message reads.

They also considered the prospects for using the infrastructure of the international seaport in the city of Turkmenbashi and other areas of cooperation designed to strengthen the transport connectivity of the countries.

In addition, representatives of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan agreed to establish joint production of cars.

According to the agency, the details of interaction in the automotive industry will be discussed in parallel with the development of bilateral projects in the areas of production of household appliances, building materials, textile and leather goods.

“The delegates of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan will start developing a “roadmap” for the development of industrial cooperation and realizing the potential of trade and transport partnerships. Relevant ministries and departments will hold regular consultations in order to form new investment projects and conclude bilateral agreements,” the conclusion says.
