Governors of Uzbekistan’s Surkhandarya region and Afghanistan’s Balkh province hold talks in Termez
On September 27, Termez hosted a working meeting of representatives of the border authorities of Uzbekistan and Afghanistan, headed by the governor of the Balkh province and the khokim of Surkhandarya region.
According to the press service of the Foreign Ministry, the meeting was organized at the request of the Afghan side in order to resolve issues related to the transit of goods -- mainly food, medicine, clothing, fuels and lubricants -- imported to Afghanistan.
The parties reached an agreement to take a number of measures aimed at solving problems with transit and delivery of goods to Afghanistan in connection with the difficult humanitarian situation in this country, the statement says.
The sides expressed their readiness to continue cooperation on the most pressing border issues.
