The number of self-employed persons in Uzbekistan has exceeded one million, Spot reports citing the press service of the State Tax Committee.

As of October 1, 1,064,895 people were registered as self-employed, most of all in the Samarkand region (154,367), the Fergana region (116,099) and Tashkent (113,696).

Now the self-employed can provide 70 types of services in the spheres of agriculture, industry, production and sale of consumer goods, consumer services, social work and IT.

In particular, work as nurses has recently been added to them, as well as raising chickens. A complete list is available here.

Why do citizens need to register?

Official notification registration will allow self-employed people to:

•  work legally without registering an individual entrepreneur;
•  fill out and store all your orders (for each order, the database will contain information about the composition and cost of work. On its basis, if necessary, you can generate a check and send it to the client);
•  calculate the social tax to offset the length of service;
•  keep track of your income and expenses.

Citizens wishing to become self-employed simply need to register for free with local tax authorities or through the Soliq mobile app. After that, they will be given a certificate with a QR code, which acts as an official document.

The tax committee website also published step-by-step instructions for registering a self-employed person using a mobile application.

Self-employed people annually pay social tax in the amount of 1 BCA (currently 270,000 soums). This amount is sent to the off-budgetary Pension Fund for calculating the pension, and the length of service is credited to the taxpayer.
