All students of New Uzbekistan University to study on a grant basis
This year, 200 students have been admitted to the New Uzbekistan University. All of them will continue their education on the basis of a state grant. For now, students will begin their studies at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy building.
On October 18, the educational process for the first students of the New Uzbekistan University began. Khilola Umarova, head of the Presidential Agency for Educational Institutions, reported on the results of the entrance exams.
“The first stage of the exams – the selection process – has registered more than 6,000 applicants. Of those, 1,230 took part in the September 6 exam. Candidates were required to have an IELTS certificate of at least 6 points. The exam was conducted by the Cambridge Assessment Organization. And 200 students have been selected, all of whom have been admitted on a grant basis,” the head of the agency said at a university presentation on October 19.
Elyorjon Jumayev, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of the New Uzbekistan University, spoke about where the educational process will start this year. According to him, part of the building of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy has been renovated for the New Uzbekistan University. From the next academic year, classes will begin in a new building under construction near the Presidential School in Tashkent.
“New educational departments will be opened at the university next year. Material science, chemical engineering, oil and gas, mechanical engineering, as well as business management faculties will be opened. We plan to enroll 8,000 students starting from 2025,” Elyorjon Jumayev said.
