More than 420,000 voters participate in early voting for presidential elections

From 14 to 20 October, 421,618 voters cast their ballots in the early presidential elections in Uzbekistan, the information service of the Central Election Commission reported.

According to Article 57 of the Electoral Code, a voter who is unable to be at his/her place of residence on election day will have the right to vote early. Thus, voters who were unable to be present at their place of residence on election day exercised their right to vote early on October 14-20.

Of the 421,618 voters who cast their ballots early, 301,094 cast their ballots at polling stations in Uzbekistan, and 120,524 – at polling stations set up at diplomatic and other missions abroad.

According to the MIA press service, the early voting process was carried out in strict accordance with the Electoral Code and the CEC decisions. Early voting ended 3 days before the election, as required by the Electoral Code.

October 23, 2021 – a “Day of Silence” in the run-up to the presidential election in Uzbekistan. That is, campaigning is prohibited on this date and on election day.

The presidential election is scheduled for October 24, 2021. Alisher Kadirov is running for the presidency of Uzbekistan from Milliy Tiklanish party, Shavkat Mirziyoyev – from UzLiDeP, Bakhrom Abdukhalimov – from Adolat, Narzullo Oblomurodov – from Ecoparty and Maksuda Vorisova – from the People’s Democratic Party.

According to the CEC, the number of voters in Uzbekistan is about 21.2 million.
