Japan to assist Afghanistan and neighboring countries, Uzbekistan to receive $200 thousand

On October 26, the Government of Japan decided to extend Emergency Grant Aid of $65 million to Afghanistan and its neighbors, where humanitarian needs are growing, the Foreign Ministry of Japan said in a report.
The Government of Japan will provide humanitarian assistance in such areas as shelter, health, water, sanitation, food, agriculture and education to Afghanistan and neighboring countries (Pakistan, Iran, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan) through seven international organizations:
• United Nations World Food Program (WFP)
• United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF)
• International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC)
• United Nations Development Program (UNDP)
• United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR)
• International Organization for Migration (IOM)
• United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA)
Reportedly, Afghanistan will receive $58 million, Pakistan - $3.5 million, Iran - $2.6 million, Tajikistan - $700 thousand and Uzbekistan - $200 thousand.
